Selection Procedure
In order to ensure a high quality of intake to the Master of Management (MMgt.)
programme, SJM SOM has a rigorous two-tier selection procedure to make sure that
only the most deserving candidates are selected for the programme. It includes:
• Written test - Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET)
• Group Discussion & Personal Interview
GATE office, on behalf of 6 IITs and IISc, organizes the Joint Management
Entrance Test (JMET). Forms for JMET are issued in September each year and the
test is conducted in December. Selected candidates are invited for Group
Discussion and Personal Interview which is conducted in the month of March.
Eligibility
Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering with First Class or Post
Graduate Degree in Science with First Class. Candidates with or without work
experience can apply. Candidates appearing for final year degree examination can
also apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be admitted provisionally,
provided they complete all the requirements for the qualifying degree at the
time of joining the course. Candidates sponsored by their parent organizations
are also eligible to apply. Such candidates are supposed to have full financial
support from their sponsoring agency.
Application Procedure:-
Candidates desirous of applying to SJMSOM have to fill in two forms,
1. JMET Application Form and
2. Shailesh J Mehta School of Management Admission Form.
JMET Application Form:-
All candidates seeking admission to the management programme of any of the IITs
or IISc must appear for Joint Management Entrance Test. JMET application forms
may be submitted online or by post.
JMET Brochure cum Application Form is available on payment of appropriate fees
(about Rs. 800) in person/by post by sending two self addressed slips and a DD
drawn in favor of the institute from where the candidate wishes to obtain the
application form.
The form is also available in cash from main branches of
Banks given below:
• Bangalore Zone (State Bank Of India): Bangalore (IISc.), Calicut, Davengere,
Ernakulam, Hubli, Mysore and Thiruvananthapuram.
• Bombay Zone (State Bank Of India): Ahmedabad, Aurangabad, Indore, Mumbai (Konkan
Bhavan, Dadar and Powai), Nagpur, Nasik, Panaji, Pune and Sangli. Delhi Zone (Canara
Bank):
• Delhi (IIT Branch), Chandigarh, Kurukshetra, Jalandhar and Jaipur. Guwahati
Zone (Canara Bank): Agartala, Guwahati, Jorhat, Shillong and Siliguri.
• Kanpur Zone (Union Bank Of India): Allahabad, Bhopal, Gorakhpur, Jabalpur,
Kanpur, Lucknow, Roorkee, Sagar and Varanasi.
• Kharagpur Zone (Canara Bank): Bhimavaram, Bhubaneshwar, Durgapur, Jamshedpur,
Kakinada, Kolkata, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Rourkela, Vishakhapatnam
• Madras Zone (State Bank Of India): Chennai (IIT), Coimbatore, Hanumkonda,
Hyderabad, Madurai and Vijaywada.
Completed JMET Application form has to be send to:
Chairman GATE,
IIT Delhi.
Candidates have to apply separately to each of the IITs and IISc where they seek admission.
Shailesh J Mehta School of Management Admission Form:-
Applicants can send their request on a plain paper asking for an Application Form along with a self-addressed stamped (Rs.10.00) envelope (size 9"x4") to the Admission Co-ordinator, Shailesh J Mehta School of Management. The last date for issue of application (a) by post is January 20, 2005, (b) in person at Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management is January 31, 2005.
