 This programme aims at

  • Grooming the faculty for designing curriculum and deployment for UG & PG.

  • Impart them necessary teaching skills (including teaching through case method) to improve effectiveness in class-room delivery.

  • Keep them updated about the state-of-the-art in IP, to be able to incorporate changes in syllabus on a continuous basis.

  • Develop close relationship among faculty for necessary academic interaction.

  • Develop a large base of academicians in IP area for scholarly research on topics related to IP.

Patent Drafting Workshop

IPR chair and IPR Cell, IIT Bombay is happy to announce one day workshop on patent drafting.

Objectives of workshop:

To provide the techniques for drafting an effective Patent Claim.


  •     Those who have attended "Fundamentals in IPR workshop"
  •     Those who have completed any other basic course in IPR, specifically patents.
  •     Fundamental knowledge on patents and its structure, application procedure is a prerequisite.


Patent Drafting: March 4, 2017 (Full Day – 10.00am – 5.30pm)

The workshop is open to all including persons from outside IIT and is designed to enable the participant to understand the basics of patent drafting. Completion certificates would be provided only on 100% attendance.

Joint Executive MBA program (EMBA) with Washington University in St. Louis

The inaugural batch of the EMBA program, launched by Indian Institute of Technology Bombay jointly with Washington University in St. Louis, commenced on April 22, 2015. Program is first of its kind in India to offer joint EMBA degree, conferred after completion of the prescribed requirements by both the Universities. The inaugural batch has a very rich student profile and diversity. The average age of 27 participants is 40 years, with average experience of 17 years. The inaugural cohort has very senior level professionals including heads of organizations and leaders of diverse functional disciplines. This program has attracted participation from all over India like Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi and Thiruananthpuram in addition to one participant from the USA. Participants have varied academic backgrounds such as engineering, commerce, arts, architecture, medicine and management. Some are already post-graduates. They represent industries such as energy, renewable energy, healthcare, aerospace and defense, railways, engineering, information technology, consulting, auto components, automotive, software, financial services, chemicals and other areas. Classes for the inaugural batch are held at Taj Lands End, Bandra and participants and the faculty stay there during each 4-day residency.

Admissions to the second batch of this Executive MBA are now open and the program is slated to begin in April 2016.  This joint-degree Executive MBA program has a convenient format of a 4-day residency every month. After 17 such residencies in Mumbai, participants are expected to go to Washington University in St. Louis for a two-week Capstone experience.  Taught by world class faculty drawn from Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay and Olin Business School, Washington University in St. Louis, the focus of the program is to prepare professionals and entrepreneurs to lead their organizations to greater heights and emerge as the global leaders of tomorrow.
