The inaugural batch of the EMBA program, launched by Indian Institute of Technology Bombay jointly with Washington University in St. Louis, commenced on April 22, 2015. Program is first of its kind in India to offer joint EMBA degree, conferred after completion of the prescribed requirements by both the Universities. The inaugural batch has a very rich student profile and diversity. The average age of 27 participants is 40 years, with average experience of 17 years. The inaugural cohort has very senior level professionals including heads of organizations and leaders of diverse functional disciplines. This program has attracted participation from all over India like Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi and Thiruananthpuram in addition to one participant from the USA. Participants have varied academic backgrounds such as engineering, commerce, arts, architecture, medicine and management. Some are already post-graduates. They represent industries such as energy, renewable energy, healthcare, aerospace and defense, railways, engineering, information technology, consulting, auto components, automotive, software, financial services, chemicals and other areas. Classes for the inaugural batch are held at Taj Lands End, Bandra and participants and the faculty stay there during each 4-day residency.
