Prof. Arti D. Kalro

Ph.D., IIT Madras

thumb-1024-010Arti D. Kalro is a Professor of Marketing at the Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay India. Her research interests include consumer behaviour, branding, and marketing communications, particularly social media and online marketing. She applies perspectives from advertising and persuasion, media and communications, consumer psychology and cognitive neurosciences in her research. Her methodological strengths include experiments, textual analysis and qualitative research methods. She has published papers in journals such as European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Interactive Marketing, Journal of Brand Management, Journal of Product and Brand Management, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, Marketing Intelligence and Planning, International Journal of Consumer Studies, Journal of Consumer Behaviour and International Journal of Retail and Distribution Management, and presented numerous papers in various international conferences such as American Marketing Association (AMA) Winter Academic Conference, Asia Pacific Association of Consumer Research (ACR) Conference and others. She is currently serving as an Editorial Review Board Member for Journal of Consumer Behavior, An International Research Review since July 2020.

Arti’s teaching interests include Marketing Management, Survey Research and Experiments, Media Studies and Technology and Design for Social Innovations. She teaches at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level programmes at SJMSOM, IIT Bombay. She has set-up the Behavioural Lab at SJMSOM, IIT Bombay. She is one of the Founding Directors of a not-for-profit, Learn Through Stories Foundation.


Prof. Ashish Pandey

thumb-1024-004Ashish Pandey is an Professor and teaches Organization Behaviour (OB), Organization Development (OD), Human Resource Management (HRM) related subjects. His research is in areas of Positive Psychological outcomes of Yoga and mindfulness, interface of business and society, spirituality at workplace. Recognition to his research comes from the awards conferred to his work in the forums held at I.I.Sc. Banglore, I.I.M. Indore and Infosys Leadership Institute, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland. His research papers, inventory and approach notes have appeared in several leading international journals and periodical like Journal of Business Ethics, Business Ethics: European Review, Journal of European Industrial Training; Global Business Review etc. Along with research and development he has been regularly involved in training and consulting work in the areas of leadership development,organization development and institution building and Faculty Development. His major long term training and consulting assignments had been with ACG Worldwide, Anchor by Panasonic, Axis Bank, General Mills, Torm Shipping, Shipping Corporation of India, VFS Global etc. and institutions like IIM Ahmedabad, Institute of Chemical Technology, Matunga, BhimraoAmbedkar Technology University, Lonere, KIIT University, Bhubneshwar, Walchand College etc.

Prof. Ashish Singh

Ashish is an Associate Professor at the Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management.  His research and teaching interests include economics of discrimination, distribution, social exclusion and underdevelopment. He also works in the areas of public health and demography.

Prof. Gajendra Kumar Adil

Ph.D, University of Manitoba, Canada


He is serving IIT Bombay as a faculty at Shailesh J Mehta School of Management since 2000. His academic appointments prior to joining IIT Bombay were at Bilkent University, Turkey and City University of Hong Kong. He also worked in industry as Technology Transfer Consultant at i2 Technologies, USA and as Industrial Engineer at Bristol Aerospace Ltd. Canada. His broad professional interest are in operations management domain. His current research is concentrated in Warehouse Operations and Sustainable Supply Chain Management fields.  His publications have appeared in leading journals such as Operations Research, European Journal of Operational Research, Omega, IIE Transactions, International Journal of Production Research, Annals of Operations Research, International Transactions in Operational Research, International Journal of Operations & Production Management and Journal of Manufacturing Systems.

Prof. Indrajit Mukherjee

Ph.D, IIT Kharagpur

Dr. Indrajit Mukherjee is an Professor at SJMSOM. A Ph.D. from the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, IIT Kharagpur and M.Tech. (Quality, Reliability & Operations Research) from Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta. Before joining SJMSOM, he worked as Lecturer in the School of Management Sciences, Bengal Engineering and Sciences University, Shibpur, and Department of Mechanical Engineering at BITS, Pillani, Rajasthan. He also worked as a Senior Engineer in Tata Motors Limited, Pune. His publications have appeared in leading journals such as Computers and Industrial Engineering, Applied Soft Computing, Journal of Material Processing Technology, and International Journal of Intelligent Systems Technologies and Applications. His areas of research interest include Operations Management , Quality Engineering and Management.

Prof. (Ms.) Karuna Jain

Prof. Karuna Jain is a Professor of Technology & Operations Management at Shailesh J Mehta School of Management (SJMSOM), Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. She has served as Director of National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) from 2013-2019, Head of SJM School of Management IIT Bombay from 2007 – 2012 and MHRD IPR Chair at IIT Bombay from 2011 to 2014.
Her current areas of research and teaching interest includes Strategic Management of Technology and Innovation, Managing Intellectual Property, Project Management and Supply Chain Management. She has published in national and international journals (DSJ, EJOR, NRQ, IJPE, IEEE- TEM, IJPR, PPC, and TFSC, TSM) and participated in national (ISDSI, ORSI, PMIRAC, POMS India, SOM) and international conferences in the area of Technology and Operations management (IAMOT, MIPS, PICMET, PMI and POMS). She has also been awarded “Emerald Literati Network 2007 Awards for Excellence” for her joint paper published in Journal of Intellectual Capital.
With her interwoven technical and managerial expertise, she currently serves on numerous academic, professional and government bodies in various capacities like President POMS India Chapter for years 2020 and 2021, Board Member of IAMOT 2019 and 2022. Director, PMI Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education Programs (PMI-GAC) from Jan 2018 to Dec 2023. She was president, Indian Subcontinent Region of Decision Sciences Institute (ISDSI) for two terms 2009 and 2010.  She was chairperson of Academic Advisory, Project Management Institute- India for the years 2013, 2014 and 2015.
In recognition of her inspired leadership of sustained excellence and valuable contributions to the field of project management, PMI India has conferred upon her the ‘Distinguished Fellow’ award in 2019. International Association of Management of Technology (IAMOT) Board has conferred upon her the ‘Distinguished Service Achievement Award in 2019 for exemplary service in the area of MOT.

Prof. Kirankumar Momaya

Kirankumar S. Momaya is a Professor of Competitiveness at Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai, India. His research interests include role of business excellence, management of technology & innovation (MoT), and collaborations for competitiveness. He worked with the Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi as a core faculty for more than a decade and made several unique contributions. He has done some challenge projects in India, Canada and Japan including one at the Institute of Innovation Research, Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo and has also worked with Shimizu Corporation.

He has contributed in editorial roles to journals such as the International Journal of Global Business and Competitiveness (IJGBC), Journal of Advances in Management Research (JAMR) and Global Journal of Flexible Systems Management (JFSM). He has authored/edited (singly/jointly) two books and published more than 60 papers in refereed national and international journals, and many articles for practitioners. In 2018, he was elected to be the President of the professional society, the Global Institute of Flexible Systems Management. He enjoys working with energetic researchers willing to take challenges in tough contexts.


Prof. Pankaj Dutta

PhD, IIT Kharagpur

Pankaj Dutta is Professor in Decision Sciences and Operations Research at School of Management, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Mumbai, India. He holds a PhD degree from IIT Kharagpur, India, and a Postdoctoral Fellow from EPFL, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Switzerland. He has worked as INSA Fellow at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany, and DAAD Visiting Professor at Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany. He served as an associate editor of OPSEARCH and Guest Editor, editorial board member and reviewer of several international journals. He is the central council member of the Operational Research Society of India (ORSI). He has received the departmental excellence in Teaching Award, several merit/best paper awards & research grants and is also a member of ORSI, ISDSI and PMI, India. He is also featured in world’s top 2% Scientist’s database (single-year) based on a study conducted by Stanford University, USA. His current areas of research interest include supply chain management, reverse logistics, data analytics, e-commerce, crowdfunding, MCDM, and decision-making under risk and uncertainty. He is also interested in System Simulation, Fuzzy set theory and its application to Industrial Engineering & Management. Prof. Piyush Pandey

Piyush Pandey is an Assistant Professor in the area of Finance. His research and teaching interests include Financial Derivatives, Investment Management and Banking. Prior to joining SJMSOM, he worked as an Assistant Professor of Finance in FORE School of Management, Delhi for around 1.5 years. After his post graduation (Masters in Finance & Control) from Department of Financial Studies, Delhi University, he worked for 2 years in UBS ISC (now acquired by Cognizant Technology Solutions) in Equity Research and Fixed Income Structuring roles. He had qualified the UGC NET exam and was awarded JRF in management to pursue doctoral research. During his doctoral programme, he had the privilege to present his research papers in many prestigious international and domestic finance conferences. He has published his research work in peer reviewed economics and finance journals of international repute (affiliated to Springer, Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, Emerald). He worked as a Senior Research Fellow on an ICSSR, Govt. of India, sponsored major research project entitled “Financial Integration in the South Asian region- An Empirical Study”. He has published a book titled “Economic and Financial Integration in South Asia: A Contemporary Perspective” with his co-authors in Routledge, Taylor & Francis Group. He is also actively involved in corporate consulting having consulted JLLSFG on a real estate finance project and a wealth management firm on profitable investment strategies.

Prof. Rahul Patil

PhD, University of Colorado, Boulder, USA

Dr. Rahul Patil is an Associate Professor of Operations Management at the S.J.M. School of Management. His research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of operations research, and supply chain management. He has published articles in international journals including Computers and Operations Research, Operations Research Letters, Annals of Operations Research, International Journal of Production Economics, Transportation Research- B among others. Dr. Rahul has offered management development programs and consultancy services to firms such as Larsen and Toubro, John Deere, Godrej , and OptTek Inc. He has also worked as Vice President- Long Range Planning and VP-Programs and Meetings for Decision Sciences Institute-India Subcontinent Chapter.

His work received the 2018 DNA award for the Best Professor in Supply Chain Management, 2017 impactful research award from IIT Bombay, and Dewang Mehta Best Teacher in Operations Management award in 2010.

Prof. Rajendra Sonar

Prof Rajendra Sonar is Professor of Information Systems and Technology at SJMSOM, IIT Bombay. Prof. Sonar has more than 32 years of mixed experience: software development, training, teaching, entrepreneurship, research and consulting. He is more of hands-on person having fair amount of knowledge, skills and hands-on experience on various programming languages right from C to Python, database systems,frameworks and tools. Did his first AI subject in 1992 as part of Master’s degree in CS and has been working on applied AI since 1996.Founded his first AI startup iKen Solutions at SINE, IIT Bombay in 2005. He holds bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science.His research interests include Applied AI, intelligent systems (hybrid AI: integrating expert system, artificial neural networks, case-based reasoning and genetic algorithms and applying them to solve business problems), N=1 analytics, hyper personalization using AI. Has guided several PhD students and has published several papers in international journals and conferences and a book on his topics of interest.

Prof. Rohan Chinchwadkar

Ph.D., IIM Calcutta


Rohan Chinchwadkar is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, an Associate Faculty at the Desai Sethi School of Entrepreneurship and Professor In-Charge of the HDFC ERGO – IIT Bombay Innovation Lab. He has been an Assistant Professor of Finance at IIM Trichy and a Visiting Professor at IIM Calcutta. He holds a PhD (Finance) from IIM Calcutta and a B. Tech. (Electronics) from VJTI, Mumbai. He has also worked as a management consultant with the prestigious consulting firm McKinsey & Company.

His research and teaching interests lie in Entrepreneurial Finance, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Startup Financing, Startup Incubation, Venture Capital, Financing of Innovation, University Entrepreneurship) and Artificial Intelligence in Finance and Entrepreneurship (with a special focus on Generative AI and Large Language Models). He has published case studies in Ivey/Harvard case collections, one of which has become a bestseller on Harvard Business Publishing, titled “BETIC, IIT Bombay: Commercializing a Novel Digital Stethoscope. His research has been published in international peer-reviewed journals like Journal of Emerging Market Finance, Journal of Quantitative Economics, Economic and Political Weekly, The Journal of Private Equity, Theoretical Economics Letters and International Journal of Economics and Finance. He has also presented his research at prestigious international conferences like Midwest Finance Association Annual Meeting, Allied Social Sciences Association Annual Meeting, Southwest Finance Association Annual Meeting and won the best paper award at IIM Ahmedabad Doctoral Colloquium for two consecutive years.

He has written several opinion pieces for national newspapers and media outlets like The The Economic Times, Mint, The Hindu Business Line, The Financial Express , Bloomberg Quint, and YourStory, and has been quoted in international media outlets like Bloomberg. He was a member of the McKinsey Global Institute team which published the report “India’s technology opportunity: Transforming work, empowering people”.

He is also a national level silver medallist in Table Tennis and a passionate theatre enthusiast.

Prof. Sarthak Gaurav

Ph.D., Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR)

Sarthak is an Assistant Professor in Economics area. His research and teaching interests are in the areas of development economics, applied econometrics, insurance markets, behavioural economics, and entrepreneurship.  He has published research articles in journals such as Journal of Marketing Research, World Development, Oxford Development Studies, and Economic and Political Weekly. Prior to joining SJMSOM he worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Asia Research Centre of London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the Centre de Sciences Humaines (CSH), New Delhi in the well-known ‘Palanpur Study’. He has a PhD in Economics from the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), and was a Visiting Doctoral Scholar at Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in 2011. He was also a Young Scientist at the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Laxenburg, Austria in 2010. He has won two ILO Research Grants, a USAID Visiting Doctoral Fellowship, and was selected by the Reserve Bank of India for participation in the 4th Lindau Meeting of Nobel Laureates in Economic Sciences. Prior to joining IGIDR for his PhD, he worked as a Development Consultant at the Centre for Insurance and Risk Management at IFMR, Chennai.

Prof S N Rao is Professor of Finance at Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay. He has been a core faculty member at UTI Institute of Capital Markets (now Indian Institute of Capital Markets), Navi Mumbai, The Institute of Chartered Financial Analyst of India (ICFAI), Hyderabad; PSG Institute of Management, Coimbatore; Institute of Technology and Management, Mumbai and has also been the coordinator of ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad. His publications appeared in Eurasian Review of Economics and Finance, Vikalpa, Decision, ICFAI Journal of Applied Finance and other leading professional journals. He conducted and taught in many MDPs in the area of Finance. He presented research papers in annual conferences of professional associations (Northern Finance Association, Financial Management Association International, Eastern Finance Association, Mid-west Finance Association, Asian Finance Association,…) held in Canada, USA, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, Malaysia, Australia and Japan. Prof. Snehal Awate

Ph.D, Fox School of Business, Temple University, USA

Professor Snehal Awate’s research is at the intersection of strategic management and international business. She studies firms’ knowledge management strategies by employing network analyses. Her research has appeared in several top ranked journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Global Strategy Journal, Journal of Economic Geography, Journal of International Management, and California Management Review. She serves on the editorial review boards of Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of International Business Policy, and Global Strategy Journal. Professor Awate received her PhD in Strategic Management from the Fox School of Business, Temple University, USA. Prior to joining IITB, she worked with the Indian School of Business (ISB) for about seven years. At SJMSOM, she teaches the core course on Corporate Strategies and the elective course on International Business.

Prof. S.V.D. Nageswara Rao

He is a Professor in the Finance and Economics area. His areas of interest include Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Mutual Funds, Corporate Governance, Financial Engineering, Socially Responsible Investments, and Corporate Social Responsibility. He has guided 20 doctoral (Ph.D.) students, and currently guiding 3 students. He has published his research in reputed journals and presented at reputed international conferences. He has offered more than 30 in-house and open management development programmes (MDPs) to companies such as Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL), Hindustan Unilever, Tata Group, Sterlite Industries, Ashok Leyland, Larsen and Toubro, HPCL, SAP India, Intel India, Tecnimont ICB, and others. He has also been a consultant to ICRA Ltd., Ashok Leyland, Larsen and Toubro (L&T), Pranjura Solutions Ltd., and Traco Cable Company.
Prof. Nageswara Rao is a Director on the Board of Metropolitan Stock Exchange of India, Mumbai. He was a member of the Banking and Finance Committee, Indian Merchants Chamber, Mumbai. He is member of academic council, College of Engineering, Pune (COEP), and member of board of studies at many institutions.
He was Senior Manager with ICRA Ltd., New Delhi. Prof. Nageswara Rao advised a team of analysts on valuation of equity shares of 8 PSUs referred to ICRA by the Disinvestment Commission, Govt. of India. He has also developed a methodology for evaluating and ranking mutual fund schemes.

Prof. (Ms) Trupti Mishra

Prof Trupti Mishra, is a Professor in School of management at IIT Bombay. Her main research interests are on Economics of Pollution and Climate change, focusing on Corporate environmental performance, evaluation of climate change mitigation and adaptation in sector and community level. She has over 12 years of experience in environmental impact assessment, socio economic assessment and econometrics modelling focusing on environment and climate change issues. She has published her papers in reputed international journals. She has been actively collaborating with industries in climate mitigation and sustainability issues. She has been also in the empanelment of State Knowledge Management Centre of Climate Change(SKMCC), dept of environment, Government of Maharashtra as individual expert.

Prof. T. T. Niranjan

T. T. Niranjan is an Associate Professor of Operations Management. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at ETH Zurich before joining IIT Bombay. His core research interests lie in the cognitive aspects of OM decision-making, and more broadly, in service operations and supply chain management. His research appears in leading journals such as Decision Sciences, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of Supply Chain Management, and Production and Operations Management. He serves on the editorial review boards of Journal of Operations Management and Journal of Business Logistics and has received the Outstanding Reviewer Award from Decision Sciences and best paper awards at top conferences. His teaching portfolio includes operations management and supply chain management in the MBA program as well as the IITB-WUSTL Joint EMBA.

He served as a commissioned officer in the Indian Air Force before entering academia. Outside work, he is a passionate rock and alpine climber and has run mountain ultra-marathons in the Alps.

Prof. (Ms.) Usha Ananthakumar

Dr Usha Ananthakumar is a Professor in the area of Decision Sciences & Quantitative Methods at Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay. Her areas of research include Applied Statistics, Classification under Imbalance, Statistical Learning and Data Mining. Her publications have appeared in International journals like Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery, Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research, International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Production and Operations Management, Journal of Quantitative Economics etc., Her teaching interests include Statistical Methods, Multivariate Data Analysis and Predictive Analytics. She also conducts short term programs for executives in the field of Analytics.

Prof. Vinish Kathuria

Dr. Vinish Kathuria is a Professor at Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management. His teaching and research activities relate to economics mainly in the fields of Industrial Economics, Energy Economics, Economics of Regulation and Economics of pollution. Before joining SJM SOM, he was on Fulbright Senior Researcher fellowship to University of Colorado, Boulder (US). He has several publications in international journals including Journal of Comparative Economics, World Development, Energy Policy, Energy, Oxford Economic Papers, Ecological Economics, Applied Economics, Journal of International Development, Transportation Research, Technological Forecasting and Social Change among others. He has pursued his post-doc from University of Gothenburg, Sweden in the area of Environmental Economics and Ph.D. internship from United Nations University / Institute for New Technologies (UNU/INTECH), Maastricht, The Netherlands. His thesis was short-listed by UNESCO for its Management of Social Transformation (MOST) award in the year 2000-01. In 2012 he was awarded Mahalanobis Memorial Medal (National) Award 2010 in the area of Quantitative Economics.
