Updated Admission Criteria 2017-19 batch (Domestic Candidates) for Master of Management Programme
Master of Management is a two-year flagship programme of SJMSOM, IIT Bombay that seeks to develop managers for an integrated understanding of all business functions.
Eligible candidates, as per the Eligibility Criteria given below can apply online for admission to M.Mgt programme (2017-19 batch) at SJMSOM, IIT Bombay :
Eligibility Criteria for the course Master of Management 2017-19:
Domestic Candidates
1. A four year Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree in any discipline with first class or 60% marks (55% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) in aggregate (including all years/semesters) or a minimum CPI of 6.5 (6 in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) out of 10 , from the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
2. CA/ICWA, with a first-class Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline having secured 60% marks (55% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) in aggregate (including all years/semesters) or a minimum CPI of 6.5 (6 in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) out of 10.
3. Applicants appearing for the final year of the degree examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and awaiting results can also apply. The admission in such cases will be subject to their fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria as stated in (1) or (2), at the time of joining the course.
International Candidates
1. A four year Bachelor Degree or a Masters Degree in any discipline with at least 60% marks (55% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) or a minimum CPI of 6.5 (6 in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) out of 10.
2. CA/ICWA, with a first-class Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline having secured 60% marks (55% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) in aggregate (including all years/semesters) or a minimum CPI of 6.5 (6 in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) out of 10.
3. Applicants appearing for the final year of the degree examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and awaiting results can also apply. The admission in such cases will be subject to their fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria as stated in (1) or (2), at the time of joining the course.
4. A candidate holding a foreign passport and whose native language is not English and who have not received undergraduate education in a country where the native language is English must have cleared TOEFL or IELTS.
Admission/Selection Process for International Candidates
The eligible candidates as per the eligibility criteria [B] mentioned above will be shortlisted for telephonic/ Skype interview process, who have applied to the M.Mgt programme. The candidate must have a valid GMAT score for applying to the M.Mgt programme.
Admission/Selection Process for Domestic Candidates
The selection of the candidates for admission to the Master of Management programme 2017-19 batch will be carried out in two phases.
In the first phase, the eligible candidates as per the eligibility criteria [A] mentioned above will be shortlisted for Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) from among the candidates, who have applied to the M.Mgt programme. The candidate must have a valid CAT 2016 score securing a minimum section-wise and overall percentile in CAT 2016 as mentioned in Table 1.
Short listing Criteria for M.Mgt 2017-19 batch
Candidates securing a minimum section-wise and overall percentile in CAT 2016 as mentioned below in Table 1, will be considered for short listing for WAT/PI process.

The shortlist of candidates to be called for appearing in the WAT (Written Ability Test) and PI (Personal Interview) will be on the basis of their composite score computed based on several factors as detailed below.
Maximum of 10 times of available number of seats in each category will be shortlisted for the WAT/PI process.
Phase 1: Composite score to be used for Short listing for WAT (Written Ability Test) and PI (Personal Interview)
The shortlist of candidates selected for this stage will be based on candidate’s Composite score of different parameters whose weightages are as mentioned below.

1.1 Performance in CAT 2016 (60%)
60% weightage will be given to the candidate’s CAT 2016 score.
1.2 Academic Profile (23%):
The formula for calculating the weightage for academic profile will be as follows:

Note:

2. Marks in all the subjects that appear on the marksheet of the 10thstandard must be considered to arrive at the final percentage irrespective of whether the board considers them or not to compute the final percentages.

On the basis of the score obtained by the candidate and maximum possible score (for both percentage marks and CGPA/CPI), equivalent percentage of marks will be derived as (Obtained score/ Maximum possible score)*100, irrespective of the formula followed by the respective boards/institutions for the conversion.
1.2.2 12th standard (8%)
The score awarded to the candidates will depend on their streams (Science, Commerce, Arts and Humanities) and will be calculated on the basis of the below mentioned formulae.

1.2.3 Graduation degree (10 %)
The Score will be awarded to the candidates based on the marks obtained in the Graduation Programme and also based on the discipline of their course.
The graduates are broadly divided into 2 categories and the score awarded will be calculated on the basis of below mentioned formulae.

Note:
1. x is the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation programme.
2. If a candidate has an integrated master’s degree or dual degree after their 12th standard or equivalent, the university/institute norms for calculating the equivalent bachelor’s degree percentage would be considered for the calculation of their graduation percentage scores.
3. On the basis of the obtained score and maximum possible score (for both percentage marks and CGPA/CPI), equivalent percentage of marks will be derived as (Obtained score/ Maximum possible score)*100, irrespective of the formula followed by the respective universities/ institutions for the conversion.
4. For a University/Institution that awards marks in terms of percentages, Cumulative average of marks secured in all years or whose scores are available will be used to arrive at the final percentage as shown below.
Example of Cumulative Average Calculation:
1st year – Max marks 500 – Obtained marks 460
2nd year – Max marks 400 – Obtained marks 330
3rd year – Max marks 450 – Obtained marks 380
Cumulative average will be = (460+330+380) / (500+400+450) * 100 = 86.66%

Note:
If the duration of the Bachelor’s degree is less than 4 years, the candidate must have a Master’s degree.
Master’s degree holders will be classified into one of these 2 disciplines on the basis of their subjects/ fields in their Bachelor’s degree programme.
1.3 Gender Diversity:
5% score will be awarded to femalecandidates.
1.4 Post-Graduate Qualification/Professionals:
7% score will be awarded to Post-graduate candidates (M.Tech/ME,MD,MS, MA, M.SC, MCA, M.Pharma,M.Plan, M.Arch,M.Des, M.STAT, M.Com and Other Commerce/Economics Post graduate courses) and Professionals such as (CA and ICWA).
1.5 Work-experience:
5% score will be awarded depending up on the applicant’s duration of relevant work-experience.

1. Work-experience in a coaching centre in teaching capacity or working for self-propriety small scale business (like retail store etc.) will not be considered.

3. Currently employed applicants should consider experience period up to 31st Dec, 2016.
4. Candidates having work experience of 60 months or more will not be awarded any marks for work experience.
Phase 2: Final Selection: Merit List preparation
The final Merit list of candidates selected for offering admission to M.Mgt programme (2017-19 batch) at SJMSOM, IIT Bombay, will be based on candidate’s composite score of different parameters whose weights are mentioned below.

The methodology followed for the allocation of score for Academic profile will remain the same as the Phase 1 (Shortlisting for the WAT/PI phase).

Updated Admission Criteria 2017-19 batch (International Candidates) for Master of Management Programme
International Applicant
For the purpose of application, international applicant is one who holds a foreign passport, or has Indian passport but is studying/working abroad continuously for more than or equal to two years (as on 30 Sep 2016)

2. Please fill the application form in CAPITAL letters.
3. Submit the completed application along with GMAT score not older than two years as on December 31, 2016 along with a bank draft of US $50 towards application fees payable to “The Registrar, IIT Bombay”. The application form along with the DD and the GMAT score card should reach the address mentioned below by March 15, 2017:

Note:

2. Candidates should send copies of relevant documents for proof of their eligibility as international candidates and proof of qualifying degree along with application form.
